John Rhys-Davies not Returning as Gimli

John Rys-Davies........Thanks to many of you who sent in this story from Empireonline.com. I’m sure we’ll all miss John as part of The Hobbit cast. From Empireonline.com: John Rhys-Davies was, of course, Gimli the dwarf in The Lord of the Rings, and gave the series many of its funniest and most memorable moments. And while Gimli doesn’t appear in The Hobbit, his father Gloin does, so we asked him recently whether he’d be back for another go. “I’ve already been asked and to be honest with you, I wouldn’t. I have already completely ruled it out. There’s a sentimental part of me that would love to be involved again. Really I am not sure my face can take that sort of punishment any more.”

This isn't surprising news to Patty Ann and I, as we got to meet the fascinating Mr. Rhys-Davies (the scoundrel!) at ORC.  He did tell of the trials and tribulations he endured to his skin and face with the reaction he had to the glue and makeup and prosthetics.  Poor man!  He endured much for the first films!  As sad as I am to hear this news, it really does not surprise me at all.  It was brutal for him.  I'm sure that we would not wish that upon him once more.

Well, sorry if my view is slanted, but no one can do as good of job as John did!!!!  Even if he did pinch us!!!!!  LOL!!!

To put it in a nut shell, Ian McKellen is still playing Gandalf and they are still casting for the rest of them and BTW their looking for a girl to play a part....Hmmmm

It's like "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" with John not coming back as Gimli but very and truly understandable. Still, that guy is awesome!

I loved him in that role, too! I guess we'll have to wait to see who fills the big boots and shoes of our other favorite characters.

At the moment it's unfoirtunate that Del Torro is off the project due to unreconcile differences. (He pulled out since it was taking too long to get picked up by the studio (MGM) and he did not wish to stay the 6 years to see what happens and what will happen if it does get picked up.) Those who have decided to go into the project (P.J., Fran Walsh (forgive me if I get her last name misspelled) seem to wish to have the project picked up and see the work into fruition.
